Reports
were received on 12-20-2000 that work had started on the
Sexual Predator Site. Enough is Enough committee members visited
the site at 10:00AM on 12-21-2000 to find a dozen people
working on clearing and cutting trees. These trees happen to
be the exact AND ONLY trees that would block the view from the Guard
Tower to the proposed Violent Sexual Predator
House.
We immediately took digital pictures of the work in progress.
We went back to town for 5 minutes. Upon return to the site
everyone was gone and apparently work had stopped. All the
tree cuttings still remained but there were no signs that
anyone was working.
Walla
Walla Union Bulletin was on the scene at 10:15AM, but work had
already stopped.
KVEW showed up at 11:00AM and took our statements and filmed
further footage of the area. We expect a TV report at 6:00pm
and 11PM this evening on KVEW.
Department of Corrections spokesperson says that this is part
of a routine trimming
operation.
